Five Things To Know About JEE Main 2019

Joint Entrance Examination, commonly known as the JEE, is the popular engineering exam of the nation. It is common for the aspirants to be curious about the details of the exam such as the eligibility criteria, application process and the date sheet of the exam. The article “ Five Things To Know About JEE Main 2019”, aims to provide answers to all the commonly asked question about the exam. We have compiled the necessary information that a student should know about the exam. Following are the five important things to know about JEE Main 2019.

JEE Main Registration

The application form is released twice a year as the exam is held twice a year. This year, for the January session, the application form was released from September 1 to September 30, 2018, and for the April session, the application forms were available from February 7 to March 7, 2019. The scanned images of photograph and signature adhering to the official stipulations have to be kept ready beforehand. For the JEE Main application form, full valid details of your academic, personal and contact information have to be submitted. The application fee can either be paid through online mode ( net banking, debit card, credit card) or e-challan. Finally, the print out of the acknowledgement page should be taken for future reference.

Aadhar card necessary or not?

The National Testing Agency (NTA) recently announced that Aadhar card isn’t mandatory for the registration. The registration can be done with any government identity number such as Voter’s ID, Ration card and Driving license.

JEE Main Online or Offline?

JEE Main 2019 onwards the exam will be held in computer-based mode only. However, the drawing section of the exam will be through pen and paper. The NTA authorities will allot the slots. Also, NTA has set up a mock test practise centre to help students help with their preparation and also to understand the pattern of the exam.

Number of Papers in JEE Mains

The exam consists of two papers – Paper I and Paper II. Paper I is for B.Tech admissions while Paper II is for B. Arch admissions. In Paper I, 30 objective questions will be asked from each section – Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. In Paper II, 30 objective questions from mathematics and 50 objective questions from aptitude section along with 2 subjective drawing questions will be asked. Each paper will be 3 hours long.

Eligibility Criteria

Following are the criteria to qualify for the exam:

  1. One should qualify the 12th board exam
  2. For the admissions into IITs, NITs and CFTIs, a score 75% in the 12th exam is a must.

For JEE Main Paper II, candidates should secure a minimum of 50% in the 12th exam.

If one manages to meet all the criteria and score the JEE Main cutoff ranks, then they will be eligible for the B.Tech and B.Arch courses offered by institutions like NITs, IIITs and CFTIs. JEE main is also an eligibility test for students who wish to give JEE advanced exam which eventually leads to admission in either the IITs and ISM.
